Some pictures from the VPs Lunch on Saturday 13th September

Wed, 17 Sep 2008 10:49

Dear VP, The sun shines on the righteous someone once said, so why did it shine on the VPs on Saturday?

We had a fine lunch (thank you Gail) and sipped (supped) our beers on the new decking while the firsts put 50 points on Selly Oak and the thirds were equally impressive against Old Halesonians. A memorable afternoon.

Good to see so many of you there. Especially some we don?t see very often - Ainsley Wallace, Andy Dunn, Bob Hartley and Paddy Moynihan. Dave Collen had flown in from Guernsey and was in the chair to celebrate his second season as captain 40 years ago. Thanks for the beer Dave.

Our thanks go to all at OYs for making it a great day.

To aid the memory a couple of photos attached.

From Dave Collen: "Yes, a great day it was, thanks to all those involved in organising it.
Other old faces from the past were Ivor and Kiwi - Kiwi is like myself ie the same weight I was in 1968, just a different shape.
It was good also to see the progress of the building works - the current crop of OY's are building on the foundations (geddit ?) of the work done by the original self builders of 40 years ago.
It was a great day, and I give due notice that I will be over next year, to buy drinks for all those who turned out in 1969/70 - my 3rd and last year as Club Captain.
Just a note to Tex:- my machine can't open the photo's - the file is too big apparently. Can you post them on the OY's website so we can view them on screen ?
Best wishes to all from sunny Guernsey"
