Latest news from Old Yardleians.
The 1st XV lost 10-3 to Upton On Seven in the 1st Round of the EDF Senior Vase. A very wet day saw the game moved to the 2nd XV pitch to protect the 1st XV pitch. Old Yards dominated the possession but did not turn it into points. All we had to show was a penalty by Ian Walker. Ten minutes from time Upton got into our twenty-two for the only time in the game and came away with a score. A classic smash and grab robbery by them. Man of the match went to Ben Honey who was everywhere for Old Yards causing his usual menace.
The 2nd XV went away to Aston Old Eds with a lot of young and new players. Although they lost 21-3 it was a very credible performance against a typically strong Aston 2nds.
The 3rd XV was called off due to a water logged pitch.
In the evening we had the Steve Sidwell Rock Night. Well supported it was a great evening with everyone enjoying the music. Watch out for more rock nights at the club.
