Latest news from Old Yards
Bishops Castle 10 - 12 Old Yardleians
Tries by Jamie Walton and Dave Rimmer plus a conversion saw Old Yards edge home in this league match. Another win on Saturday in the rearranged game with Cleobury will see us move into the top half of the league.
Glad the first team enjoyed a bus trip for the above away game. Thank you very much for the four foot diameter brass table top you brought back. Unfortunately the Landlord from the pub in Bishops Castle wanted it back so Steve Sidwell had to drive over there this week to return it. Jamie - you owe Sid £40 for petrol.

Old Yardleians 3rds 13 - Birmingham Exiles 0
An epic battle between two big packs where Exiles edged the scrums and Old Yards had the better of the lineouts. Eventually the game came down to speed where the pacey Old Yards backs aided by the athletic back row of Marcus Higgins, John Lonie and young Crouch won the day. A close first half saw both defences on top until from a lineout near half way Yards secured good ball. It was spun out quickly through many hands. When team motivator David Hansen joined the line from fullback he drew in two defenders then gave the ball out to speedy winger Jaymes Walsh who sprinted into the corner to score. Shortly after Ali Goldbourn took the ball from a scrum and powered forward. Supported by Tim Russell and Phil Goldbourn the ball was recycled quickly and passed to fly half Lewis Williams. The young Williams majestically drop kicked the ball between the posts to give Old Yards an 8-0 lead at half time. Despite many substitutes in the second half Exiles were unable to get close to the Old Yards line and it was the home side backs that created the only score of the second half. Ali Goldbourn again took the ball forward supported by the Yards front row. Quick ball was then passed out to the backs from where Jaymes Walsh sprinted in for his second try of the game. Final score 13 - 0 to Old Yardleians.
