15 a side tournament
The pre-season work on the training pitch having been met with the usual degree of enthusiasm, the time has now come to see the results. The annual Old Yardleians 15 a side tournament takes place this season on saturday 14 August. Teams taking part include

Big Al returns
If my memory serves me correctly, and it doesn't always, there was a big blond second row by the name of Big Al Harrison. He liked a beer at the Plume, a cigar and a game of rugby. Famous for the damage he caused (mainly to his own players) at the line out my playing memory is of Al catching the ball at 2 in the line out, ignoring his scrum half (Ullah), looking towards me at outside half and floating an overhead lofted pass straight at me which tended to arrive just after the back row. Cheers mate!
Anyway Al is on a holiday here from his South African home and will be happy to buy his old mates a beer at the club on Saturday 7th August. Feel free to drop in.
Training
Training for seniors takes place at the club on tuesday evenings from 7.00 and on saturdays from 2.00. Under the guidance of Gary Robinson new players are warmly invited to join us whatever your level of ability.
The Vandals (vets)
Player Manager Martyn Slow has organised a training camp in the New Forrest to be held over the weekend of August 21-23. Those wishing to attend as players or supporters should get in touch with Martyn asap.
Tips for new players
Don't train straight after a meal as it might just reappear.
