More details in a while.
Minis and Juniors
We should probably start with the success stories frrom last sunday. Playing against Woodrush is never easy which tells us that we must be performing well to get the success that we did.
The Under7 & 8 teams played for 3 periods in their match and came through successfully by a try count of 15-12 and the word is that Harley Painter scored 2 tries, which would be a 5 year haul for either his dad, Phil or grandad Steve (Dip F.D.). News from family historian Mrs Lyn Painter, yes, the Painters do partly originate from County Down in Ireland but Phil says it might need clarification!
The Under 9 boys played 2 sessions, winning the first 9-3 but slipping up in the second by 1-2. Overall that comes to 10-5 to us.
The under 11s with their speed men playing won convincingly but the final tally varies from our managers, but it was described as an impressive performance.
The Under16s playing at home produced a strong all-round display against a well organised and 'never say die' Woodrush side. The fact that our opponents were a good side reflects on how well we played in all aspects of play. A hat-trick of tries from Tre'rail showed what genuine pace can do. Tre'rail, you can collect your can of Diet Coke from the Chairman on sunday! It was good to see Alister playing again after his arm injury. A special thanks to North Mids Referee, Mr Steve Sidwell. A big thanks also to Woodrush who were much better than the scoreline of 53-12 suggests.
Seniors
In a non-league weekend our teams were mixed into the pool but in terms of success came away empty-handed. The Development XV were well beaten at Wolverhampton by 0 - 42. The 'A' team lost at Harborne by 10-19 andd the Vandals slipped up in a niggly game against Walsall by 8-32.

And Finally
It was good to be honoured by the visit to our club of Mr Richard Beckett, Chairman of Lancs/Cheshire Club, Old Parkonians and his wife Paula. On a fact finding mission to see how a successful club operates, he somehow dropped into the Old Yards. She who enjoys a weekend of rugby talk was more than happy to act as chef, taxi and Ladypool Road tour manager.
O.K. it was only West Brom but a win is a win or as Mr Wenger might say, 'C'est la Vie'
