Which two games am I thinking about? I'll tell you shortly.
Last weekend's action
First XV v Southam Lost 10-32
Dev XV v Claverdon Won 24-19
Under 7/8 A v Old Sils Lost 6-7
Under 7/8 B v Old Sils Lost 4-9
I decided to have a look at our Development XV playing against a determined Claverdon team who are performing well in the league below us. Early domination by the Ys saw a substantial lead witth forwards and backs working well as units and linking well. Luke informed me that he scored a try but in Wenger-speak, 'I didn't see the incident'. During the second half the loss of Captain Barstool as well as Paul Gower from the back row disrupted our fluency and in the end we did well to hang on for a narrow victory.
A report from our younger teams.
On a lovely spring like morning we played a hurriedly arranged game against the Old Sils U8’s. We fielded a mixed U7 and U8 team against their U8’s. The squad comprised: Alex, Presley, Ellis, Lewis, Isabel, Harley, Ben, Frankie, George, Charlie & Dan E.
After some initial confusion due to the green touch lines our team did very well against a decent Sils team who had some large and quick boys. 2 games were played. In the first game we were excellent and were leading 6-5 with minutes to go, but Sils nicked 2 late tries to take the game. Our try scorers were Dan E with 3, Ellis, Charlie & Presley.
In the second game we were on the back foot from the start as Sils scored with almost the first play of the game. They also had an incredibly well organised defence and turned us over several times and pushed us back when we ran sideways or backwards. Having said that we never gave up and tried to the end. The second game ended 9-4 to the Sils with four of our lads getting over the line ( Ben, George, Charlie and Dan E).
We were very proud of how our young team competed against a really good Sils outfit. There were no forward passes and very few handling errors, the kids are all coming on well with the team supporting the player with the ball, running forward in possession and working very hard in defence.
Well done lads and a big thank you to Christopher, Tim and all those who are supporting our stars of the future.

Social Activities at the Old Ys
Graham, thanks for organising a great night. Cheese and wine evenings might sound a little unfashionable to our younger members but it was pitched at the right level with the 'Mr and Mrs' game being a great laugh with no individuals being subject to ridicule or divorce procedings.A great night but a little low on numbers and with Graham already planning the next one, it is a must for your social calenders. She who drinks wine effortlessly is ready to sample a drop of the 'vin rouge' and 'vin blanc' while the Fridge will do a job on the cheese.
Richaard Walker does not look 70 years old to me so I reckon that his party on saturday was just an excuse for Eve to provide a supreme curry, for Tony to croon, for Bert and Blox to get out and for Richard to have a good time and to prove that he still has staying power. Nice one!
And finally
Will he or won't he?
RFU qualified referee Peter Butler has promised to take charge of his first match. Will he 'bottle it' or will he be show real bravery? What do you think? Let's wait till sunday!
I mentioned earlier two great games frrom last weekend.
Six Nations international what a thriller. Congratulations to Wales for a just about deserved win.
Never in doubt. A few weeks ago we gave Villa a 2 goal start and cruised to victory with ease. This time, sorry Harry for spoiling your weekend but we gave Spurs a 2 goal start but instead of stopping at 3 goals, Theo took it to 5. Never in doubt, Mr Wenger knows best!
