Old Yardleians RFC: Club News
A QUIET EASTER SO IT SEEMED, BUT WAS TORBAY AS CALM AS EXPECTED?

The Easter Tour
There are many reports coming to me at the moment, mostly anonymous, and whatever the rumours going around suggest, I will not print anything about Messrs Purdy, Walker or anyone else that might seem unkind. However, some of the photographic evidence is hard to ignore, but boys your secrets are safe with me at the moment.
On the playing side, we were just a little too strong for host club, Paignton, who fielded a blend of 2nds, 3rds and vets. For once we had plenty of bench warmers who turned into impact replacements. Martyn, with the help of his abacus, noted our points scorers as Adam Walker x2, Lee Purdy x2 , Chicken, Kendo, Kevin Coles, Phil O'Painter and conversions , 3 each for Ben Honey and Lee Purdy. Final Score 52-5 to us.
Not long to go !
As the season heads towards a climax (perhaps that's where we went wrong ?), it would be the ideal moment for you as players, past players, friends of the club etc.to give some thought to the contribution that you could give to the Old Yards. With the AGM approaching, what could you offer in terms of blood, sweat and tears? How about helping our groundsman with pitch preparation, flags and post ptrotectors? what about half an hour of help cleaning the changing area or bar area? a stint of bar duty, not just on saturdays and sundays but being available at private club bookings whch we need as it brings us much needed income. Give it some thought and if you want to know more, then feel free to ask one of us. When you are old and grey you will be able to tell your grandchildren that you were truly an Old Yardleian, (that is if they don't fall asleep first).
And finally
It just shows, money doesn't always buy you success. They took away Toure, Clichy and Nasri, but we ended up having the last laugh and what a goal by Arteta. As you probably know by now, Mr Wenger knows best.
