Old Yardleians RFC: Club News
NOT LONG TO THE END OF THE SEASON

Sitting at the last committee meeting, our chairman painted a picture of gloom and doom, suggesting that the First Team were heading in a downward direction and how that was certain to affect morale throughout the club.
Now I think differently. The Development team, although a little inconsistent, have produced a number of good results and with a group of young players who will be pushing for first team places very soon. If you ever visit the club on a sunday morning you may well see some pleasing rugby from our young Yardleians Last sunday the under 16s played hosts to Birmingham Exiles, a side noted for their powerful pack of forwards. Well it was a joy to watch as our forwards won plenty of possession from scrum, lineout and broken play. The entire team defend effectively when required and in attack the speed of our backs and some very shrewd kicking opened up the opposition defence. The final score of 36-0 in our favour is not due to weak opponents but is down to the improvement shown by our boys. Thanks go to Mr David Hanson for refereeing. What a nice shirt!
