Dave's Quiz
You really don't have to be a smart arse to enjoy our Quiz nights. Just a little bit of knowledge, a bit of common-sense and some beer money in your pocket should lead to a bit of enjoyment and, yes it is competitive but not too serious. The date of the next quiz is Friday 6th July, doors open 7.00 Quiz starts at 7.30 so to be certain of a seat be on time. £2 per player with a maximum of 6 players per team. The current champions are the team led by St Thomas Aquinas star, Clare Jordan supported by Dan, Haydn and Moira, but they are beatable.
The Annual Moss Goode 15 a side tournament.
The provisional date for this season's opener is August 18th. We are aiming to have 12 teams taking part and if your team has not been invited but is keen to do so should contact our new image front row powerhouse, Mark Baldwin on 07766443811.
Of interest to our more senior members is the news, directly passed to me by Rupert, sorry, Rob Dixon, that our Guest of Honour on that day, will be that former 4th team Captain and Colts Manager, supporter of the Lincoln Poacher, now retired and living down south, the one and only, Mr David (Faintly) Hall and his good Lady, Sheila. My own special memory of the man is when I woke up one sunday morning having crashed out in the club the night before, and being force-fed a sausage sarnie and weak tea and then playing back row for the colts. Cheers Mate!
What's going on at your club
Without going into too much detail, the committee, with a great deal of drive and vision especially from Big Mark, are on the verge of announcing the names of two new coaches for next season. New kit for both the First XV and Vandals and a new fitness training area with equipment to enhance aerobic fitness as well as strength and muscular endurance to ensure that not only are we the smartest team in the area but also the fitest.
Off the pitch we are about to appoint a bar and kitchen Steward/Manager and we also intend to improve the car parking area, driveway into the club and to make it an even more attractive venue that will attract more bookings with the obvious knock on effect.
A great piece of news on the playing front is that our man has seen the light. Possibly the most valuable player in recent seasons is intending to return to play for us. Welcome back Steve, however great South Wales might be, we need you and you need us.
And finally
Well done to Chelsea (that hurt a bit), unlucky Harry and his boys for not quite getting the European option that they wanted (that makes me feel better).
