The new season is getting closer and closer and the tell-tale signs are starting to appear. So, in no particular order here are a few things that might be of interest.
Difficult to believe
That stalwart, the Peter Pan of the Old Yards, Steve Price, is about to celebrate a 'Big' birthday. I won't say how old he will be but it is somewhere between 59 and 61. All the best Steve, a man of many talents
Sport England Grant.
Sport England have awarded the club a grant of £48,500 to enable the club to upgrade changing facilities and also to enhance the kitchen area. Their generosity is much appreciated and also a big 'Thank You' to Mike Neary for guiding our bid through the complex and time-consuming application process.
Moss Goode 15 a side competition.
Now running since 1980 this popular tournament, seen by many clubs as the ideal start to the season, took place on Saturday with 9 of the 10 teams making use of the day to monitor their readiness or lack of it for the season. Only team not to show was Wolverhampton. The teams were divided into two sections. The Yards, with a squad of well over 30 players defeated Old Sils, Exiles and Stourbridge Lions and drew with Aston Old Eds. Aston also won their games except for the draw with us but on a try scoring count it was Aston who went into the final where they were beaten by a very well organised Tamworth side by a score of 17-6.
The plate final saw Ys defeat Berkswell and Balsall with the score in the region of 11-0
A very big 'Thank You' to all those, too many to mention individually, involved in the success of the occasion.
Greater Birmingham Squad.
The trials for the G.B. squad took place this week and I will be very surprised if Josh, Tre'rail and Sam are not selected.

A day out in Herefordshire.
Do you fancy a drive down to Ledbury? If you do then get your sat navs ready and come along to support our First XV in the opening game of the season. Make a day of it. Bring your wife or girlfriend (but not both).
