Review of the above games
The first team report comes from a blend of conversations. Mark suggests that we looked very good in the forwards winning plenty of possession but not making full use of it. He added that missed tackles also cost us in a big way. The Shrewsbury website reports that their players are too clever for ours and were able to think, play rugby and consider that membership of Mensa was of real significance in defeating us by the wide margin of two points. Well lads, training on Tuesdays and open university on Wednesdays until we get it right.
The Development team, with a few regular players missing, struggled against Tamworth but just as we started tot look good a serious injury to young Richard brought the game to a premature end. Richard, we wish you a speedy recovery.
The Vandals went to Tamworth and thrashed them by one point. As they say, 'a win is a win'
The Hornets were at home against a Warley team with a similar player balance as ourselves in that they had a mix of senior players who rummage for the ball and some younger lads who display a turn of speed. As it turned out, our strike were a little better on the day with the Hanson boys continuing the family contest for the most tries. This week Callum got two and the old man got one. Although our opponents had one or two youngsters with a touch of verbal genitals to offer from time to time, the game was played in a good spirit and thanks must go to the excellent referee, Mr T. Power.
A special mention for the club President who is a year older this week than he was last week. The first Lady had been informed that he played half a game but the rumors had circulated that he stayed the full distance. I'll keep out of that one, and I will not point the finger of blame at Steve for the damage to Paul Gower's ribs. Another win for the new 'Hornets' by 29-19 or something close to that.

And Finally
A big thanks to those of you who joined me on the charity walk last sunday. Sorry about the extra mile but the map reader was too busy looking at the beauty of the countryside (or he was bloody useless). It was nice to sit in the garden of 'The Navigation' where many tales of the 'good old days' were told. As Tony Fagan was too modest to tell us about his try scoring feats, two in a game at The Eds, he is prepared to buy a pint for the first person to approach him and saying, 'two tries for a prop, that is some feat.'
The new boy from Germany looks good but The Baggies will be a sterner test having sorted out the Northern Boys. Mr Wenger still seems to know best and I never doubted it.
