AND THE HEAVENS OPENED
Hornets v Aston Old Eds 3rds
Our special blend of youth and experience faced an Aston team that are going through a difficult patch at present. Playing on our all-weather pitch the performance was clinical. The pack winning plenty of ball and our young speedsters scoring the tries.
After 20 minutes the heavens opened and play was abandoned. By that time we had scored four tries through Callum H. x2, Charlie, and Cameron P. who also landed a conversion.
Now for the advice. I have been told by Richard Walker and Dave Dixon, that when thunderstorms are in close proximity that sheltering in the big trees behind the pitch is not the cleverest idea. However, from our position in a corrugated metal shelter, I don't think that we were in a very good position either.
Thanks to Alister for bringing in the flags/posts. Thanks also to Mr S.W. Sidwell for refereeing.
The final score of 22-0 to the Hornets was impressive but I really hope that the Aston club recovers from its present situation. My memory tells me that we were struggling badly not so long ago and it was not a nice feeling to have.
