Well played, a well deserved win !
My reporter at the First XV league match against Malvern at the scenic Tilehouse Lane, complex described how our boys put in a much better performance than in some of our recent games. With a serious injury list and with one of our key players out in Sierra Leone in the fight against ebola, we were expecting a difficult afternoon.
With the return of the play-anywhere Walker and with the elusive running of Jack Seifas on debut, the home club were always looking the likely winners even though we had lost twice at Malvern already this season. The power of the pack was too much for our opponents to handle, with Phil (peter pan) Painter in impressive form, so his Dad told me.
The final score was 27-10 in favour of the Yards.
We would like to thank referee Mr John Kelly of the North Mids Society and our visitors from Worcestershire for another exciting game.
Down at Asda Park
Just a short bike ride from home and I arrived at the home of long term local rivals, Camp Hill. With local bragging rights to be played for there is no such thing as a friendly when the two sides meet. However,to ensure parity of numbers, we were happy to help balance the teams. The Camps made valiant attempts to run the ball wide to find the gaps but the conditions were not ideal for that style of play and the Yards' more controlled game gradually proved to be successful with a slightly flattering winning margin of 47-7.
This coming weekend
