It is with great sadness that news has reached us of the death of John McNally at the age of seventy.
He was very popular with local rugby folk with his sense of humour and his refereeing going hand in hand. He had the gift of being able to defuse a situation with a smile and a few short words.
He was Headteacher at Saint Bernadette's Roman Catholic Junior School for many years and was always ready to share a story or two if you bumped into him at the Spotted Dog.
The Old Yardleians offer our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
May he rest in peace.
