Old Yardleians RFC: Club News

IT WAS CLEAR TO SEE WHO NEEDED THE WIN

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 12:00

First XV  v  Leamington

A pleasant afternoon in Leamington with the usual loyal supporters and all we wanted was to see some Barbarian Rugby, running the ball from deep and supporting our runners. What did we get, was it Marcus Hope, Bob Hope or no bloody hope.?

The home team needed the win to avoid the drop and we needed nothing.  We fully deserved what we got. Tackling needs attention in both technique and where abouts in terms of the gain line.  Passing needs to be sympathetic and earlier on most occasions.

In the time it took Barstool to cross the pitch with his flag we were two tries behind. An impressive drop goal from Ian, son of Walking Stick was all we could manage, Two tries from our more athletic blokes restored some pride but as I suggested I think Leamington wanted and needed the victory just a little bit more than the Yards.

Our other sides
My agents reported that our 2nds realised the cricket season was upon us and conceeded enough points to lose a test match against Old Halesonians.
Our Vandals played Dixonians who I thought had vanished. We won with not too much effort

What are you doing this Sunday ?

Simple question, the answer is you are coming to the club to see what you can do in order to contribute to our Minis festival of rugby. Watch a bit of the rugby and help with some of the many jobs that need to be done to ensure that the day is a success.
