SWING LOW or BREAD OF HEAVEN ?

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 12:00

The Weekend of world cup battles.

Halfpenny and Ford will both be missing from their respective sides. The outcome will soon be resolved, but with the Aussies looking good, who knows what might happen.

Last Saturday
Spoilt by choice, a trip to Wolverhampton to watch our firsts or visit to rural Hopwood to watch a 'mix' of willing players mainly third teamers. After a lot of soul searching over to Kings Norton it was.
I suspect that K.N. only had the one game and that was mainly their Firsts and Seconds. A game is a game and although they built up quite a lead by half-time, our fitness meant that we won the second half. The only difference was that they scored a lot more than us over the course of the game.

Meanwhile, my reporter over in Wolverhampton, Steve Price, was quite pleased by our performance with many positive aspects of our game, but the slightly younger opponents took hold the game in the second half to win by 27-13.

No, not Bergerac, nor Matt Le Tisier, but one of the great players to have played for the Old Yards, quite a few years ago, his name, Dave Collen. He was Club Captain, (look on the clubhouse wall), Possibly, so he tells me, the best prop to have played for us, although I am sure Rob will struggle to agree with that. He also was one of the great builders of the day being responsible for the erection of the clubhouse and somebody suggested that he might have helped build Saint Paul's Cathedral, but we await confirmation of that.
Dave, only joking because without blokes like you, the present day players would be changing in their cars (like Sunday footballers) and drinking outside Aldis.

This Saturday
We have our first home game of the season, a game that we really do need to win. Our viisitors are Shrewsbury with kick off at 3.00.
