WE REACH THE CLIMAX ON SUNDAY

Wed, 04 May 2016 12:00

Another season closes in on us this coming weekend. The Senior pundits who moan and groan from the touchline are of the opinion that our First Team vary from Brilliant to dreadful with the occasional performance in between. Well, this weekend is our only chance of Silverware,(reminds me of a football team)and I believe that if we can play as we did against Kidderminster and again at Woodrush then we will win a trophy for the club cabinet. The competition is known as the north mids shield/plate and not as Fridge labels it the North Mids Teapot. The semi-final at Woodrush was fairly predictable with the home side starting strongly, taking a scrum against the head and putting the pressure on in the loose. Three early scores from a drop goal and 2 pens gave the home fans a few moments to savour but it was not to last as Yards dominated the set pieces and our backs and flankers started to cut through the opposition with relative ease. Superior fitness eventually told and a final score of 9-37 tells it's own story.I will not single out individuals as I thought the whole of our team worked hard and showed character. For the woodrush team open side flanker, Taylor and full-back Duce (product of Tommies)stood out. Now it is all down to the final. Next Sunday at Dudley K.with a 1.30 kick off.Our opponents on the day, Droitwich, have not had a great season so logic suggests that they will want to go out with a win. PRESIDENT' DAY Club President and man of many hats, Steve Painter would like to invite you to the club on Saturday where there will be plenty to watch, do, eat, drink and talk about. At 1.00 our under 13s will be playing against local friends and rivals, Camp Hill. At 3.00 our Vandals (Veterans) will play against a President's Invitation side. Coming up soon will be the club dinner and the A.G.M. but more about that later.
