What?s happening at Old Yards?
Tractor Fund, we still need more support
Our old tractor finally bit the dust. To get the pitches ready for the new season we need to purchase a replacement one for Groundsman Brian Hope. We have identified a replacement for £2,600. We are now asking twenty-six Old Yardleians to donate £100 to pay for this. So far we have found the following sixteen who have donated £100 each:
Tex Wales, Colin Cresswell, Mike Hughes, Pat McDaid, Brian Hope, Bill Collins, Steve Price, Brian Collingwood, Alan Arkell, Mark Baldwin, Tony Fitzgerald, Kevin Grant, John Lonie, David Collen, Tom Guise and Steve Cunningham
We have heard promises of other donations and are looking for at least ten more to donate £100. You can send your cheques made payable to OYRFC to Mark Baldwin, 142 Solihull Road, Shirley, Solihull B90 3HS or hand them to a Committee Member. If you want to transfer funds direct to the club?s bank account let me know and I will send you the details.
The extension to the bar is coming on well.
The Building Inspector has been up and passed the roof. Great work also has been done on the old wooden floor in the bar by Steve Price, Brian Collingwood and Tom Power. They are restoring it and it is looking good. The new windows should arrive in ten days, thank you to Tony Fitzgerald for them. There are still work parties on the weekend if you are available. Come and help Old Yardleians grow.
Moss Goode
Thank you to everyone from Old Yardleians who attended the funeral of Moss Goode. The club was well represented. Moss was a great supporter, player and administrator for Old Yardleians. He will be missed.
Saturday 11th August - THE OLD YARDLEIANS 15 A SIDE TOURNAMENT
This Saturday sees the first major playing event of the season at Old Yardleians. Sponsored by Forward Engineering (Thank you Sid & Lonie), we have local teams coming to our club to play. The first games kick off at 1.30pm. The bar is open all day and there will be a BBQ as well. Come up and enjoy the day, bring the family.
Anyone who can help with the day is welcome, please contact Mark Baldwin 07788 443811 or reply to this email. We need many hands from 9am to 1pm to get the club ready. We then need others from 12.30pm onwards to help with the BBQ, the Bar and parking. Even if you just volunteer to do an hour it all helps and gives a break to those who do so much.
