IT'S ALMOST THAT TIME AGAIN

Fri, 19 Aug 2016 12:00

THE NEW SEASON IS UPON US

The club looks great both inside and outside as well as the pitches with credit to those who have given up a lot of their time. Well done and thanks.

New coach Richard Bragg has been working with a lot of enthusiasm and our backs look particularly sharp and our forwards will be very strong as they always have been.Mark has been busy searching for talent, (players) and tells me that things are looking promising.

THE FIRST TEAM

Captain this season will be Micky Brennan, one of the best second rows that I have seen at this level. He is one of a rare breed in that position as he not only does the basics but he can run, pass, tackle and do all the things that Blox, Granty and Big Al can only dream about.

THE SECOND (DEVELOPMENT) TEAM.

Under the leadership of Dave Langley and Ian Walker, two players who would walk into most first teams, we are looking for greater consistency, and expect the side to contain a blend of experience along with promising youngsters who have the potential to break into the first team.

THE VANDALS/VETS

What do we expect? the same again please.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARIES

August 27th   First team v Eds in a friendly at home 3.00 kick off.
September 3rd  First team v Cleobury Mortimer away 3.00 kick off North Mids Shield.

THE SMOOTHEST PROP EVER SEEN.
Many years ago when I first arrived in this part of the world, I was taken under the wing, along with any other naive newcomers, of an amazing and articulate player by the name of Hilton Smith. The 'place to be seen on a Saturday night was the Robin Hood and that is where the man excelled.  White shoes, tight red trousers, white shirt unbuttoned to the waist, gold ingot and the patter that even Sid could not offer.
So what is the link?
Hilton moved into rural Shropshire where he became the 'role model' of every male in a place by the name of Cleobury,(pronounced Clidbury) Mortimer. On Saturday 3rd September we have been drawn in the cup to play that very club. Give yourself plenty of time to get there, red trousers not needed, Satnav essential and you never know, some of that smoothness might rub off on you.

MORE NEWS
There is much going on at our club, but that's enough for now. Watch this space.
Mr Wenger still knows best. It might not always seem that way but have faith.
