SENIOR TEAMSIn a conversation with Peter a few days ago he informed me that the title phrase actually dates back to the days of Queen Elizabeth the First. He then related it to our present day situation, particularly in the First team.
He expressed the opinion that our new coach, Steve Chinn, had a real challenge to face and that he shouldn't be judged too quickly. I will ask Steve if he would be willing to offer his thoughts on his new position within the club and all being well then I will put them on to this site fairly soon.
Last weekend saw a mixed bag of results for our senior teams.
The First Team travelled to Kidderminster and were well beaten 51-14 .My reporter at the game, Steve Price, was not impressed so decided to spent much of the match with a coffee with maybe a small tot of Brandy. Steve agreed with Peter's view that the new coach needed time but that a win or two would be useful.
The Seconds entertained Kidderminster seconds/development team and gained an impressive victory mainly due to the mobility around the pitch from our pack of forwards.
Our Thirds/Vandals also played at home and in a game that ebbed and flowed, (Toff's words) we narrowly lost out to Aldridge seconds 12-17
STARS OF THE FUTURE
On a cold but bright Sunday morning, I got on my bike and rode the short distance to Shirley Park where a three way arrangement involving ourselves, Camp Hill and the Eds meant that there were young rugby players, loads of parents and team coaches all over the place. I really suggest that you come along to a few games as the enthusiasm and level of skill on display would impress you. No gloating is allowed but we did play very well.
Our under 13s played Pinley who were determined but lacked the clinical try scoring skills of our boys.
This coming Sunday, our Mini/Juniors have the following fixtures,
Under 6/7,8,9 all away at Old Salts
Under 10,11 at home to Old Salts
Under 12 at home to Old Salts.
Under 13 v Camp Hill at the Edwardians
Under 14 training at the Edwardians.
