FIRST TEAM SUCCESS
Not only did we get the win and the league points that keep us afloat, we gave ourselves the self-belief that has been missing throughout the season.
On a miserable afternoon both cold and wet, the conditions for handling were far from ideal. The Old Salts, driven on by coach Nick Sporcic had most of the pressure but a combination of missed opportunities by the visitors and determined defence kept the half time score down to 3-0 to Salts, and that came from a penalty that sneeked inside the posts.
Whatever Coach Chinny said at half time seemed to do the trick. The Yards displayed fitness and accurate tactical kicking to pin the Salts back into their own territory. Three second half tries by the home side along with a clean sheet in defence took us to a win by 19-3. The scoreline was possibly a bit flattering but I guess we can live with that.
It was good to see some old friends of the club, including Steve Mancell, John Edge and Dean Scandrett. Keep in touch lads.
Stars of the future.
I made the short journey on my bike to watch our under 14s in action against Evesham. I will not tell you the actual score but we now have a very large and impressive squad with good coaching.
