SO CLOSE BUT SO FAR

FIRST TEAM

A league match down the road at Camp Hill against our old rivals resulted in us getting absolutely nothing for our efforts. After a poor start to the season we now have a new coach, some new players and we are actually playing for our shirts. Even our opponents acknowledged the fact that we were very unfortunate to come away with nothing.  However, self-belief is gradually creeping in to our performances and all aspects of our game are improving. The only thing missing seems to be the  taking of chances when we are in try scoring territory and that, to me, is all about confidence.
In terms of hospitality, Our club president, Steve Painter and myself enjoyed a lunch of shepherds pie followed by apple pie along with our hosts and its good to see leading referee Jim talking us through the interpretation of the Laws at the higher level of the game.
Before I forget, the final score of 25-20 does not directly help our cause but the manner in which we played will hopefully kick start our season. One bonus point was our reward and, who knows, it might be very handy come April.

Seconds and Vandals
Both teams had difficult opponents and did very well to secure victories.

Seconds  v   Droitwich     won 10-7
Vandals   v   Bromsgrove Vets  won  15-12

Minis and Juniors
Our future stars took the A45 over to Earlsdon and played very well.  It appears that we shouldn't give you all the scores but I will say thaat we won more than we lost.

This Sunday our teams are playing against Upton On Severn.  For more information contact your team managers.
