Old Yardleians RFC – 90th Anniversary Celebrations

Next season, 2017/2018, will be the clubs 90th season and we are formulating a programme of events to celebrate accordingly. The committee are open to suggestions about the types of events we should organise, so if you have a suggestion please voice it to any committee member and we will add it into the melting pot for consideration.
One idea that was mooted at the last committee meeting was to revive the old tradition of holding a Dinner and Dance evening at a local hotel, probably on a Saturday evening in September 2017. This is a chance for the ladies to get their glad rags on and for us blokes to squeeze into suits that don’t quite fit anymore. In order to establish likely costs we have made preliminary enquiries at The Village Hotel Shirley, who currently have a large function room available on Saturday September 23rd. Nothing is booked yet, but we can have a formal three course meal with wine, followed by cheese and biscuits and coffee, along with a large dance floor and an entertaining DJ/compere for an estimated price of £40 per person, with reasonable room rates available for those who want to travel up and stop over.
In order to establish whether it is worthwhile trying to book such an event we need to gauge support and establish likely attendance numbers. Can I ask everyone who might be interested in coming to such an event to make it known to myself. Please use email, Facebook, or text message to respond..
