A Good Game and a good result.
Saturday saw a trip across to Coleshill area for a crucial match in the battle against the drop with both sides needing wins. A good sized crowd were entertained with both teams wanting to play attacking rugby. The Y's were the stronger team in gaining possession at the set piece but the Salts looked dangerous on the counter attack. Coach Sporcic from the same part of the world as Tom Jones, had the home team well organised defensively, but the all round ability of the visitors made an away win look the most likely outcome and the final score of 24-17 to the Y's seemed about right.
At the bottom of the league, Stafford have now slipped below the Salts and the Yards but with two games remaining, any number of combinations are possible. Next up for Y's is a difficult game against Walsall, this Saturday at Tilehouse Lane with a 3.00 kick off. Having put together a good run of performances, it should be an interesting game.
Club news
Our best wishes go to Bobbo, a club stalwart who suffered a broken leg while decorating last Saturday. Amazing when you consider that he has a wife and a couple of young rugby players to call upon.
While watching our boys take on Salts, The Eds second string were playing Salts equivalent side in a somewhat one sided game. Local Mathematician, Jan Ogan decided to watch our game and he not only enjoyed the quality on show but he would be willing to provide an analysis.
That will be enough for now and I hope to see a big turn out on Saturday.
