IT ALL GOES DOWN TO THE WIRE

Our Destiny is in our own hands

Saturday provided an entertaining match against Walsall played in sunshine and with a decent number of spectators. A home win would have been usefull but it was not to be.  It seemed that from the start of the game we probably gave our visitors a little too much respect. We were put under a lot of pressure for the first 15 minutes or so and it looked like an embarrassing afternoon was coming our way. Instead of sitting back and watching what our visitors  could do it might have been a lot more effective to have got stuck into them rather than allowing them to dictate the pattern of the game.
The fact that we played some very good rugby in patches shows what might happen if we could sustain it for the whole match.

For those of you who watch 'The Chase', we are heading for a 'one match showdown'. The Mathematics could not be simpler. April 22nd our final league game of the season at home against bottom of the table Shrewsbury.  If we win we stay up but if we lose we drop. That should be all the motivation we need.

Sunday Morning
I made the long trip to Streetsbrook road to watch our under 15's against Old Halesonians. Some very skillful, fast and open rugby was provided and I hope that a good number of them will make the transition into senior rugby.

Mark Baldwin Says
Next Saturday, which is Easter weekend, will be without any games. But looking further ahead to Saturday 6th May which is a very special day when all our club players and followers come together to celebrate another season in the life of The Old Yardleians.
