A relatively quiet weekend saw Daylight Robbery at the Emirates but more on that later. For a change I headed for the Tilehouse Arena to watch our 'New' First team squad in action against the old Sils.
Having been disappointed by recent happenings and some dreadful results, I was not sure what to expect from our youthfully reconstructed team. There is still much to be done but on the positive side our scrummaging and lineout went very well and gave us plenty of possession. However, 'Rome was not built in a day' and with half of our squad on sabaticals I guess it would be unfair to expect too much too soon. The feeling around the club suggested that the future might well be healthy.
ERDINGTON RFC
It seems to me that many of our local clubs are losing a considerable proportion of their senior playing numbers so it should be fascinating to see how Erdington progress in their first season back in action. Larry, one-time keen spectator at the Yards, is part of their committee and a chat with Dave and Jonno on Saturday suggests that a pleasing start has been made. 'Watch this space'
