Results

The 1st XV lost 34-12 at home to Tamworth. Tries by Ben Honey and Dave Howlett in the second half were not enough to turn the game around for Yards.
The 2nd XV went over to Tamworth who failed to put a team against them claiming they had no front row
The 3rd XV lost to Tamworth 3rds in a high scoring game. Strange that Tamworth could not put out a 2nds then took 19 players away to play our 3rds. Thank you to Dave Adams who refereed the game.

Upcoming games - Saturday 3rd November

1st XV away to Veseyans in the league
2nd XV home to Veseyans
3rd XV in the pool

Kick Offs
The clocks have gone back so all kick offs are now 2.15pm

RFU Loan
You could have knocked me down with a feather when the RFU actually agreed to give the club the interest free loan we asked for. A lot of work has been done by Tony Fitz and Gail Orton - Thank you. Also Steve Sidwell, Tom Power and Mike Hughes whose extra support at the end helped us get over the final hurdles. There is still more paperwork to do but it does mean we will be able to finish the changing room extension sooner rather than later.

Bar Extension

  • Well done to Steve Price, Mike Hughes, Shannon Killarney and Ben Honey who have put up the plasterboard on the ceiling of the bar extension and the insulation above it.
  • Mike Hughes has loaned the club a gas heater that enables the bar to be kept nice and warm.
We have obtained additional, comfortable furniture for the bar.
  • Security - extra cameras and recording equipment has been obtained to increase the security of the club. James Hendricks will look at it to see if it can be fitted with our existing system.
  • Next are the electrics. Tony Fitz is back from sunning himself in Barbados where he visited Snake. Tony will now organise the electrics. Lee Cupples has volunteered his Dad who is a qualified electrician to do the work in exchange for a (good)few beers.

No ball games in the clubhouse
As the bar extension nears the finishing stage we need to ensure everyone will look after our clubhouse when it is completed. As part of this notices have been put up stating no ball games allowed inside. Please can everyone follow this rule with immediate effect.  Soon we will be putting in the suspended ceiling, fitting lights and painting walls. We do not want to see all this hard work spoilt or damaged.

Six Nations Tickets
This Saturday, 3rd November, is the closing date for your ticket applications for Six Nations 2008 tickets. Please make sure they are with Mark Baldwin by then. So far applications have been received from: David Collen, Andy Dunn, Barry Cleaver, Kevin Grant and Mike Hughes.

Finally, if you have any Old Yards news you want to put in our update please send it to me
