Old Yardleians RFC: Club News

News roundup as of Sept 17th 2007

Mon, 17 Sep 2007 12:00

With two players failing to turn up at kick off, Old Yardleians 1st XV had to reshuffle the team before the start of the game. Not a great performance by our boys and we lost 17-10 with David Langley getting our only try converted by Ben Honey who also added a penalty. Good to see Nick Allen make his 1st XV debut even if it was on the wing, normally he is a second row.

Other results in our league: Midlands 4 West (North) : Bishops Castle & O.V. 15, Harborne 7; Bournville 53, Burntwood 6; Old Halesonians 23, Willenhall 16; Tamworth 37, Selly Oak 0; Veseyans 21, Newcastle (Staffs) 0.

This Saturday the 1st XV go in search of their first league win against Willenhall away, kick off 3pm.

The combined 2nd/3rd XV went down to Claverdon to play their seconds. In an open game under the hot sun we made a great start scoring three tries to one in the first half. With nine players over forty and two of those over fifty-five we ran out of steam in the second half eventually losing 22-20 when the home side scored in the last minute.

Upcoming games - Saturday 22nd September
1st XV vs. Willenhall away in the league
2nd XV vs. Willenhall at home.
Also on the big screen at our club watch Endland bounce back against Samoa.

Upcoming games - Saturday 29th September
1st XV at home to Burntwood in the league kick off 3pm

Jack Horton and Hayley are now proud parents !!  Zak born at 7 minutes past 8 and Charlie at 10 minutes past are fine, no details of weights as yet as they were a bit early (not like Jack at all) and have been getting a bit of extra care, there is nothing to be concerned about.
