Old Yardleians RFC: Club News

News roundup as of March 28th 2008

In Spain the Old Yardleians Tour XV defeated their Spanish hosts with a brace of tries by Adam "Same Difference" Walker. The game was played on sand rather than grass with the changing rooms an old container. It might make everyone appreciate the facilities we have at our club

On Saturday a club B team lost at home to Tamworth 19-8. Details are sketchy but we scored a try and then a penalty from Andy "Baby Beaker" Rhodes against a Tamworth team with many 1st and 2nd team players. Highlight of the game was Guy Smith's ball winning skills at the front of the lineout.

On Sunday we put a team out against a touring Old Parkonians 1st XV from the Wirral. In a hard fought game all of the points were scored in the first half with the teams drawing 12-12. Ian Walker scored a try and poor old Tom "Pickle" Mead broke a collar bone in a tackle.
