Games on Saturday 5th April
1st XV won 14-7 away at Old Salts with tries by Ian Walker and Captain Steve Cunningham. Conversions added by Ian Walker and Ben Honey. We were always in control of the game with the Old Salts scoring a break away try,
2nds lost 21-22 at Kings Norton. 22-0 down with twenty minutes to go the heavy boys decided to do a bit of work. Two tries by Bobo and a third by Tony Fitz were all converted by Elliot "The Hair" Honey.
3rds won 26-18 against Kings Norton 3rds at home. Try scorers included David "Ralph" Rollins, Greg "Somebody Love Me" Allen and Simon "20 Stone" Davies. Simon's try was the highlight of the game. from 10 yards out he tried to dummy the Kings Norton defence. Instead of tackling him the visitors fell about laughing while Simon rolled over the line.
Games on Saturday 29th March
1st XV won 70-0 (yes seventy) against Selly Oak in the league. The twelve try demolition was started by Steve Grainger grabbing the first of his four tries after good work by the Yards pack. The forwards dominated in every area of the game with Tight Head Prop Jack Horton producing a man of the match performance. Despite poor weather conditions, Yards produced some great running rugby in the second half. One move went from end to end with Yards only denied by the linesman's flag in the corner, in a Mark Cueto style foot in touch. Shame we didn't have Shane Williams as he would have scored. The rout had many scorers that included Guy "Get a Haircut" Smith (2), Mike "Jumping like a Salmon" Brennan, Adam "Same Difference" Walker, Ian "The Plane" Walker and Lee "Don't touch my Hair" Purdy. A great win so let's see if we can go unbeaten for the remainder of the season.
2nds won a hard fought game 21-12 away at Kings Norton. Tries by Steve "Too Quiet" Turvey, Gary "Smoking" Williams and Gary "Bobo" Robinson capped a fine display. Nice to see Alistair Goldbourne play his first game of the year
3rds lost 22-7 away at Birmingham Exiles. Captain Fantastic Greg Allen scored our only try of the game. For the rest of the game Greg tried to tackle Exile's Bok Outside Half but never laid a finger on him.
