News roundup as of July 6th 2008

Recent Works - The new ladies and the gents toilets in the bar are up and working. Just a bit of touching up to do to complete them. The old 1st XV changing room that has a door into the bar is being renovated. It has been split in half with the bar side to be made into a disabled toilet. The back half will become a store for playing kits. The changing rooms are also being progressed. Finally a sub team under the leadership of Steve Sidwell and Tom Power are going to relay the patio in front of the club and renovate the ground in front of the changing rooms.

PRIORITY - Help continues to be needed to get the extension to get it finished for the start of the season

We intend to complete the bar and changing room extensions this summer. To do so we need your help on a weekend. Please attend on a Saturday from 9 am onwards to help Tony, Pricey and the team. Don't worry if you have no building skills you can help knock down walls as part of the Oompa Loompas.

COME ON - PLEASE TURN UP AND HELP

Summer Ball

A great event held at the St Johns Hotel for the 130 that attended. A big Thank You to Steve Painter and Gail Orton for the hard work in organising it. It was great to see so many Old Yardleians seeing each other again and having a beer. A formal event with everyone dressed up, I must give a special mention to Dean Brain's dazzling white shoes. No wonder his better half didn't attend with him wearing them.

Pre-Season Training

Training for the new season has started and is being well attended. If you have not been yet, WHY NOT? We are determined to win the league this season that means all players should attend training.  It is every Tuesday and Thursday with a 7.30 pm start. Fridge - that means changed and ready on the pitch at 7.30 pm.

Future Events:

Saturday 16th August

Moss Goode Memorial 15 a Side Tournament at Old Yards. Ten teams confirmed so this will be a big day at the club. If you are not playing then please volunteer to help run the event.

Saturday 13th September

The first league fixture of the season when we play Selly Oak at home. We will have a VPs lunch on this day.

Players Annual Subs have remained the same as last year. That is £50 for the season or £40 if you pay before 30th September. Help Old Yards and pay your Annual Subs to the club early. Mark will up the club collecting this Saturday so bring your cheque books..

The RFU wants your view

From 1st July for four weeks the RFU are running a survey on rugby in England. They want the view from everyone on league and cup structures so if you have ten minutes to spend please fill it in on line at www.rfu.com/rugbylandscapesurvey

Anything to say?
